3D Printing Steps and 3D Print Request
- Create Your Design in/or Convert a Pre-existing Design into a 3D File or .stl file (Short for stereolithography) using CAD (computer-aided design) software. There are many programs, but here are some good and free programs for beginners:
- Once you have your design in a 3D file, you will need to put it in a ‘slicer’ program. This ‘slices’ your creation so it can be easily printed in layers. (It will still be solid, as you designed, but allows the printer to print uniformly.) You will need to use Cura software to convert /slice your 3D file - Cure Software -https://www.lulzbot.com/cura.
3D Print Request
- Save your Cura file – this is your print-ready file. To have it printed, submit your 3D Printing request, along with your print ready file to Qualtrics - https://baylor.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_7WhOk3vMLQgDb3E
Files will be printed within 72 hours of request.
