Photography Student Noel Becerra’s Work Accepted into Prestigious National Student Exhibition

Photography student Noel Becerra’s work was accepted into the EMERGING VISION: BIENNIAL STUDENT SHOW at the Colorado Photographic Arts Center in Denver, Colorado. The exhibition runs November 27, 2020 - January 2, 2021.

There will be a virtual opening reception (via Zoom) on Friday, December 4TH, 2020, 5:30 PM MST.

The work Bacerra made for this exhibition was created in Photography Professor Jennings Sheffield class for the assignment entitled: Shelter in Place where Sheffield asked students to address how they were dealing with social isolation, and to photograph what it meant to them to shelter in place, or how they were dealing with their current situation.

This exhibition was adjudicated by Nate Larson, Chair of Photography at the Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore, MD. Larson selected images by 25 talented photography students from various universities throughout the US, each student offering a unique perspective on the future of a medium that is constantly evolving.

Noel Becerra’s comments on his work:
Constantes Inciertos is an ongoing visual exploration of three of life's most uncertain constants– time, isolation and mortality. All living beings have a relationship with death as well as an awareness of time. I began this series looking to understand these relationships and how they change in moments of isolation. As it has progressed, the series has centered around the observations of these ideas from the perspective of the botanical world. Nature is used as a stage for the constants to speak and interact. The imagery serves as window into the subconscious mind and provides the viewer with a glimpse beyond objective reality.
