Photography had a wonderful gathering at the 2024 Society for Photographic Education’s international conference in St. Louis, MO.

Baylor was a big part of this conference in a myriad of ways--

Assistant Photography professor Morgan Ford Willingham presented a workshop on cyanotypes titled, A Small Step for Cyan, a Giant Leap for Blue-manity!

Current BFA candidate, Katie Carlsen participated in an Industry Seminar Panel Talk titled,  From Screen to Print: Paper Makes the Difference with Hahnemuehle.

Past Baylor Photography grad, Jessica Just presented an Academic Practicum titled, Nobody Ever Knows everything-Confessions of Young Art Professionals for Aspiring Art Professionals.

Current photography students Amber Thomas,  Katie Carlsen, and Kyle Stewart, as well as past graduate, Mary Grace Romanick all participated in the portfolio reviews and were able to have their work reviewed by many professors and students from across the country.

Past Baylor Photography grad, Rya Im is the photographer for the international conferences.

In Addition:

Current photography students Amber Thomas and Katie Carlsen volunteered at the three-day event as well as recent grad, Mary Grace Romanick.

It was also a wonderful time for Baylor students to meet and spend time with past Baylor graduates, Ray Im and Zach Nadar.

We are especially proud to announce that after weeks of consideration to different programs, current student Katie Carlsen has accepted to attend UTSA for her MFA. Additionally, she was offered a full ride, plus a generous stipend for a studio assistantship to the Director of the University of Texas at San Antonio's (UTSA) School of Art.
