Baylor Alum John Singletary Holds MFA Reception at UC San Diego

John Singletary (BFA 2020, Studio Art-Painting) held his MFA reception at the University of California, San Diego on May 17, 2025. His former painting professor, Winter Rusiloski, and Department Chair Heidi Hornik were able to attend and celebrate with John and his family.
John is a visual artist and musician born near Chicago, Illinois. In 2021, he had work exhibited on the cover of TIME magazine, and work included in MoMA PS1’s “Greater New York” exhibition. In the same year, he also had pieces exhibited in the Houston Museum of African-American Culture, and received the esteemed Elizabeth Greenshields Foundation Grant. He was an Artist-In-Residence at the Woodstock Byrdcliffe Artist guild in 2018 where he received a Pollock-Krasner Foundation grant. Today, John lives and works in San Diego, California.
