Department of Art and Art History’s Outstanding Student Award Recipients for 2026 Named
Kate Swayze, Dept. Chair, Dr. Heidi Hornik, and Ellery Copple
Kate Swayze (Studio Art) and Ellery Copple (Art History) are the Department of Art and Art History’s Outstanding Student Award recipients for 2026.
Kate and Ellery have been recognized at several events in the past two months, including recognition at the Baylor Art Student Exhibition (BASE) reception and celebrated at a dinner hosted by Chair, Dr. Heidi Hornik.
Friday, April 10th was the University's Academic Honors Convocation and was the third and final recognition.
During their time at Baylor, Kate and Ellery excelled in their academic work as well as gaining recognition with external exhibitions and research presentations.
Upon graduation, Ellery is going on to pursue her master’s degree in art history in the fall and Kate has secured a position working in an artist studio for the next year, with the intention of pursuing a MFA in the fall of 2027.
