Three Graphic Design Students Win Big in Dallas!
The Dallas chapter of the American Advertising Awards (ADDYs), held their award event and three Baylor Art Graphic Design Students were honored, including the coveted Best of Show award! This recognition, in one of the nation’s most competitive and creative markets, is a tremendous achievement. In a field traditionally dominated by powerhouse universities such as Southern Methodist University (SMU), University of North Texas (UNT), Texas A&M University—Commerce, and University of Texas—Arlington (UTA), this milestone is an inspiring testament to our students’ skills and relentless drive—a common characteristic in Baylor students. Their work exceeded all expectations, shining a spotlight on the extraordinary talent emerging from our program and amplifying our presence in the competitive Dallas market.
Student design competitions are a powerful and effective way to showcase student work, highlight course outcomes, and elevate a design program’s reputation. Design competitions are a common and respected practice in the advertising and graphic design industry. More importantly, they validate students’ efforts, build confidence, foster a sense of pride and community, and build a great rapport. Graphic Design Professor Genaro Solis Rivero “In six years of teaching graphic design in higher education and twenty-five years of practice, I can attest that design competitions are a reality check that change students’ lives forever in a positive, magical way”.
