Elisa has been an active participant in the arts her entire life. Growing up, she studied piano and dance. Church and school provided her opportunities to sing and be involved in theatre. A self-taught artist, she loves sketching, quilling, and several forms of needlework.
During her 35 years as elementary music educator, she relied on her life experiences to help reach students. Whether drawing comparisons between music and works of art or having her students draw to express what they heard in a particular piece of music, art was a part of her classroom.
At the Martin Museum of Art, she discovered a love for researching exhibitions and sharing her discoveries with students and the public. She has worked to further develop her art skills in the visual arts working with charcoal, printmaking, painting, weaving and more. As the Education Coordinator, Elisa is responsible for CAE programming, exhibition tours and developing special programming and lessons for all ages both in the museum and out in public.
Her other interests include gardening, playing computer games and attending local musical and/or theatrical productions. She loves Baylor football and basketball, both men’s and women’s. She says, “my faith and my family are the foundation for all that I do.”
