Mike Schuetz
- Collections Manager, Martin Museum of Art
Mike is an artist, educator, and museum professional with 25 years of experience working in the museum field; and has held many titles including docent, curator, collections manager, preparator, exhibition designer, fabricator, and administrator. Mike has worked at galleries and museums throughout Milwaukee, New York, Boston, throughout western Massachusetts, and Illinois. Some of Mike’s favorite exhibition projects include, Firelei Baez: Vessels of Genealogies (2017), Ben Venom: No More Mr. Nice Guy (2017), Sue de Beer: Come Wind, Come Weather (2018- 2019), and Federico Solmi: The Grand Masquerade (2019).
Since joining the Martin Museum of Art and the Department of Art and Art History at Baylor in 2022, Mike’s highlight exhibition projects include: In Search of Light: Women in Photography, Selections from the Martin Museum of Art, Permanent Collection (2024), and The Hammer That Shapes Reality: Selected Works by Käthe Kollwitz, from the Martin Museum of Art, Permanent Collection (2024).
Juggling a museum career, art/studio practice and actively exhibiting, and designing skateboard decks, Mike can still be found year-round shredding trails in Cameron Park on his mountain bike. Mike is blessed to have amazing parents and an equally amazing extended family— providing love, peace, balance, understanding and humor to an otherwise mad world.
